In 2020, California voters passed Proposition 19 , which makes changes to property tax benefits for families, seniors, severely disabled persons, and victims of natural disaster. In response, our Office has created a one-stop webpage to help you understand and prepare for the upcoming changes.
Our physical offices are currently closed but all core services of the Assessor’s Office remains available to the public. We are committed to serve during the pandemic. Our Office continues to receive and process your requests submitted electronically, by mail or through our drop box outside of City Hall.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, Assessor Carmen Chu has served as the Co-Chair of the San Francisco's Ecnomic Recovery Task Force, leading the City through the recovery to sustain and revive local businesses and employment, mitigate the economic hardships affecting the most vulnerable communities, and build a resilient and equitable future. On October 8, 2020, the Task Force released the Final Report with 41 recommendations.
